Get your act together on Late Rooms

If you didn’t know, Late Rooms is the littler Expedia and Booking.com. In the UK especially, last minute bookers are turning to Late Rooms to make a hotel booking. As I have stated in my Booking.com and Expedia blog, it is essential to be on these websites. You need to have your property's details listed here. It can only increase your visibility.

Once you have a basic listing on all the channels, then you can make a decision about which websites are bringing you the most bookings and go from there. I call this the 80/20 rule: focus on the 20% of websites that are bringing in 80% of the bookings.

For most people, this will be Booking.com, as they are the current leaders in the UK. However, with the introduction of Trivago and its award-winning Metasearch, platforms such as Late Rooms are getting more visits.

Here are my Top Tips on how to hack your way to a higher ranking on Late Rooms.

Learn how to boost your bookings!

Ensure you have high-quality photos

Late Rooms loves to showcase their photos. You also have the added benefit of rearranging your photos into an order that works best (unlike with Expedia). As you can see, the first three images are crucial, so make sure they depict your USP (Unique Selling Point.) If you have a stunning view, or one of the best breakfasts in town, show them off to the world.

Annoyingly, you can only upload one image at a time on Late Rooms, so you will have to develop the patience of a saint.

Note: You cannot upload images to Late Rooms that are over 10mb.

Upload a video

Unlike any other online travel agent, Late Rooms lets you upload a video to your listing. This is a must as it will make you stand out from your competition.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million!

Create a special offer

Late Rooms, more than any other OTA, love it when you list a special offer for your property. Most hoteliers switch off at this point, mostly because they assume they have to offer 10% off the room rate. However, Late Rooms special offers are different from the rest. As you can see from the image below, you can simply offer the guest a bottle of wine, free wifi, afternoon tea, etc.

Search Boost

The easiest and quickest way to hack the Late Rooms system is via its Search Boost tab. Here, you can amend the level of commission you want to pay Late Rooms for a booking. By default, your rate is set to 15%. This is what 95% of your competitors in your area will pay. If you want to get ahead of the rest, simply search boost to 18% and your property will shoot up the rankings.

Yes, you have to pay an additional 3%, but if you follow this blog I wrote earlier, you will know how to never get a guest to book via an OTA again after their first stay.

If you liked this blog, then read this next. It's my system for making sure your guests never book with an OTA again after their first stay with you. CLICK HERE to find out how!
